The PPAV(UK) held its Grand Annual Ball on the 19th October 2019 at the Leonardo Royal Hotel London City.

The event was well attended as usual. More than 170 guests consisting of past Visakhians, families and friends including our regular attendees and several newcomers graced the occasion. 

The ambience of the elegant venue complemented by the beautiful flower arrangements suited the occasion and the guests in their glamorous outfits contributed to the convivial atmosphere throughout the night. 

The evening started with a drinks reception which was followed by a three course dinner, the President’s speech and dancing. In her after-dinner speech, the President Subodhini Clarke thanked everyone for their contribution towards the success of the event. She gave a brief summary of the activities undertaken during the year and particularly emphasised the importance of raising funds for the PPAV bursary scheme for deserving pupils of Visakha Vidyalaya.  

With the formalities out of the way, it was time for the fun to begin. The band ‘Sky High’ did not disappoint and their excellent music set the mood for the night. Their excellent repertoire catered to the varied age groups of the guests with traditional dance music for the ballroom lovers interspersed with modern faster rhythms for the young .As usual, the Baila sessions attracted everyone to the dance floor. 

The raffle was a great success. To mark the occasion our editors supported by the committee produced an attractive souvenir which was well received.
