Sponsored Walk

Our charity for Sri Lanka for the centenary year - 2017

Helping Little Hearts keep Ticking

Funding a dedicated Cardiac and Critical Care Complex at the Lady Ridgeway Hospital Colombo

On July 23rd we the 'old girls' of Visakha, our families and friends gathered at the Jubilee Gates of Regents Park, London for a sponsored walk to support the Little Hearts Project. Despite the threat of rain, we were determined to make a success of this year's event. Many were able to walk the entire course, others as many laps as they could manage and the less able cheered the walkers on. When everyone was back at base a delightful picnic was enjoyed by all. The fund raising exercise was fun and it was hoped that the collection would also raise a cheer. And so it did. This year we were able to collect a record sum of 5000 pounds sterling - a million Sri Lankan rupees. The project managers, the Sri Lankan College of Paediatricians acknowledge our contribution of one million rupees to enable them "to save one hundred little hearts in the future".

We are delighted we are able to make this contribution towards saving one hundred lives in this our centenary year .Our thanks to Chitra Mannakkara & Kanthi Ravindran for the excellent organization and Mithra Gajraj for keeping track of the many sponsorships and donations.
