Annual General Meeting 2019

The 36th Annual General Meeting of Past Pupils Association of Visakha ( UK) was held on Sunday 24th March 2019 at the Rising Sun Hotel & Restaurant in Sudbury Hill, London. 

 

 On arrival, members and families were warmly welcomed and treated to tea & delicious snacks. It was good to see old faces & new, chat & “catch up”. The AGM commenced thereafter. 

 

The outgoing President and the Secretaries took us through the events of the past year. The Treasurer steered us through the accounts which showed that we had had another profitable year. The Bursary Co-ordinators informed us that 5 bursaries (of which 1 was sponsored by a committee member) had been awarded to alumni of Visakha who had gained admission to universities in Sri Lanka. They also emphasized how effective and rewarding the Bursary scheme was proving.

Joint Treasurers - Mithra Gajraj and Ranji Vimalathas

Editors - Malki Gamage and Thusitha Wickramasinghe

Event Coordinators - Harshi Boralessa and Chitra Mannakkara

Scholarship Coordinators - Poorna Nagasinghe and Padmani De Silva

Committee Members -, Rangani Abayawardana, Samanthi Amarawardena, Sepalika de Alwis, Indramala Dhanaratne, Indira Ekanayake, Niranjani Fernando, Gayani Jayatilaka, Priethie Jayawardhana, Chitrani Pathikirikorale, Chitra Perera, Mala Polpitiye, Sureshini Ranasinghe,Kanthi Ravindran, Kamala Samarajeewa, Dayani Senarath, Yamuna Tennakoon, Srimathi Weeraman and Dulcie Wijekoon 

 

It was agreed that Mrs Lakshmi de Zoysa should continue as Patron of the Association.

 

The new President Subhodini Clarke in her speech thanked the outgoing President Yamuna Tennekoon and the committee for all their hard work resulting in a very successful year. She then outlined her vision for the coming year.

 

After the meeting we all enjoyed a fantastic Sri Lankan buffet at the Rising Sun Hotel, and then danced the night away.
