The annual Mal Pahan Pooja to transfer merit and pay tribute to our founder Mrs Jeremias Dias was held on Saturday 20 April 2019 at the London Buddhist Vihara in Chiswick.
The event was attended as always by PPAV members, their families, friends and
well -wishers.
Mala Polpitiya led the devotional songs as the beautiful flowers and lights were offered. The pooja was conducted by Ven. Bogoda Seelawimala Nayake Thera and the resident monks. Thusitha Wickramasinghe delivered a wonderful tribute to Mrs Jeremias Dias. The focus was the benefits being reaped in modern society thanks to the vision and philanthropy of this great lady. A short sermon followed after which the monks chanted pirith and the religious proceedings were concluded with the “pan wadana” ceremony to transfer merits to the departed.
The guests were then invited to a high tea . The centre piece was an “Aluth Avurudu Table” ladened with the traditional srilankan fare. This is now an integral
feature of Founders’ Day
